Using a lux meter to calculate red/green/blue percentages

Post by Godzilla »

I was thinking about how to use the my Lux meter to get a general idea of what my led lights are putting out. You might know or not know that Lux is waited on the sensitivity of the eye. Green being the most sensitive and blue/red about 70-80% less sensitive. Here's a CIE chart.

Now I was thinking that you could apply color filters to get a general idea of power produced in relation to other light source including MH, CFL, LED, T5 and the Sun. Although you won't probably be able to know how much power is in each color you can use it for comparisons.

LED / CFL Graph - I thought the green was washed out on the Devo light, I added a 4w blue/red grow light and color is much better.
