Building a Bleacher style Areo system (how to w/pics)

Postby hemivette » Wed Dec 25, 2013 1:58 pm

So, I have had a number of people asking me where I bought my creation. Well I was unaware that anyone made one, or anything like it, so true to form (For me) I made my own. I started with 1 3/4 pvc, and basiclly put some tape marks on the floor. Marking my height, and angles I wanted, also where I wanted the plants to be, (So they were even) and started cutting pipe to fit my pattern. I cut 2 of everything, so both sides would be exactly the same.

After having the 2 sides built, it was time to cut the center sections. (To determine our width, and where the holes needed to be in the fence posts) Obviously this is completely up to the size of your space. (Mine was 4') Next I made the holes in the posts. I bought some screw in adapters, so they'd fit tight, and used "PL Premium" construction adhesive on them for strength.

FYI; The posts are 6" square PVC from Home Depot, and actually 90% of the system is from the Depot. Make sure you order the end caps, (If not in stock) they took 2 weeks to get. And the tank is a Poly unit, I found on CraigsList. It is a 12gallon from a boat, (water tank) and was 20 bucks, with a pump. I didnt use the pump, cause it was 12volt, so I sold it to my neighbor for 20 bucks. Lol.

Building a Bleacher style Areo system (how to w/pics)

Once the frame was built, and everything was checked for fit. It was all dismantled, and glued together with PVC cement. Remember it needs to be done correctly, as the frame is also the drain, and you dont want no leaks. I did NOT glue the posts to the frame, or where the side pieces go into the base. I wanted to be able to take it apart, to move, and clean, so I just used silicone in these areas.

So, now we got her so she can poop, its time to feed her. For this I used 1/2" PVC, various elbows, and fittings, 1/2" poly tubing, and 1/4 spray sprinkler heads from the irrigation department. I made 3/4" holes for the sprayers, and got grommets that fit in the holes, and shoved the heads through, making sure the spray was hitting the netpot. I use 3 3/4" netpots. To run the water, Im using a 900gpm Mag drive pump, turning on every 4 minutes and running for 1 minute.

After a few trial runs I determined I needed some insulation, and a chiller. (Chiller was the best investment I ever made) So I covered everything with silver bubble insulation, and plumbed the chiller, with a second Mag drive pump. This pump is a 400gpm, and it runs continuously. Water is always 65 degrees.

Now the clones go from the cloner, and into 3 3/4" netpots, and are put into a tote to veg for 2-3 weeks, and then into the system, and straight into flower. Hopefully this has given some of you some Ideas, and inspiration to make your own. Any Q's are always welcome! Peace everybody! h

PS; Merry Christmas!

WOW!! Cool system!

Curious....How do you arrange the lighting for a system like this?

Above the plants!  :P They are at an angle too. The SolarStorm is at about 30 degrees, and I have enough vent hose to hang the HPS off either end of it. Takes about 30sec. to change. Also hung them from super heavy duty drawer slides, for forward, and back movement. Also the SolarStorm is on chain, so I can change the angle. So basically unlimited adjustment. With everything being on different angles, I barely have any popcorn. h
